June 15, 2011

I am a 58 year old female. I too, like hiking. I also enjoy fishing & camping out. I am a born again Christian who loves the Israeli people. It’s great to see something like this. I hope that you don’t mind talking to or having a pin-pal like me. I will keep you in my prayers.

Have you seen anything unexplainable, that could really only be contributed to the act of God?

What made you want to get into demolitions?

What is the one thing you want most?

Deborah,

Thank you for taking the time to visit the site and contact me.  It is greatly appreciated that you think so highly of our project.

In answer to your first question I am not a religious person and I am a firm believer in science therefore I do not think I have seen anything unexplainable that could only be attributed to an act of god.

Going into demolitions was actually an order I received from my commanding officer (CO), I was originally in a scout/patrol platoon and my CO needed an NCO for the new demolitions platoon so he sent me off to the course.  That is not to say that I did not thoroughly enjoy the training, like I have said to my parents, its every five year olds dream to destroy the sand castle in the sandbox when they are done with it because it is always the most fun part of the day, this time I only got to do it with more powerful tools.  The other thing about the demolitions course is that it is one of the few transferable infantry skills to civilian life that you can learn in the military.  If I want to I can go and get a contracting demolitions license with my training from the army, although I would need to do a short course that would fill in the gaps.

The one thing I want most right now is to finish my BA so that I may be able to move on with my life and hopefully hike the Appalachian Trail which has been a dream of mine for years.

I hope you have found my answers informative and helpful, please feel free to visit the site and contact myself, or any of the other soldiers, again.  You can also browse our archive for more information on topics that may be of interest to you.

Thank you for answering back to me. There is a 6 part video out that is called, “Against All Odds.” This video deals mainly with Israel becoming a nation again, some of the things the people went through during that time, the 6 Day war & what they saw & experienced. Check it out. It’s very good.

I can understand about blowing things up. That would be exciting, but defusing bombs would be a little nerve wracking. Do you also defuse bombs?

In Ezekial 35-39, the prophet states how the enemies of Israel will be shown that God is real & will protect Israel. On May 15th, we are seeinf on Facebook that Palestine is asking for Arabs to march against Israel. Have you heard of this & will you be involved?

I have heard that Israel is beautiful. Have you ever visited Petra? Gone skiing? Fishing? What is your favorite place in Israel or the surrounding country?

Deborah,

Great to hear from you again.  I will check out the video series you recommended, you wouldn’t happen to know who wrote/produced/directed it?

In answer to your first question no I do not have the training to defuse bombs nor would I want to learn how to do it.

I have seen the multiple Facebook pages calling for the start of the third Intifada.  I believe the first one I saw called for it to start on March 15, which came and went without incident.  This does not lead me to believe that the calls are full of it, but I would be interested to see where all the members of these groups are actually located.  I also think that the Palestinian populous understands how bad a third Intifada would be for their cause and for the current economic growth and overall stability that the Palestinian Territories have been experiencing.  As far as Gaza is concerned, I would welcome a popular uprising against Hamas and the other Islamic Fundamentalist groups that control the territory who are oppressing the entire population and intentionally putting civilians in harms way by using them as human shields.  If there is a third Intifada and the Government of Israel and the IDF decide that it is necessary to call up the reserves to restore some semblance of order than I will go where they send me and try to perform my duties to the best of my abilities and in the most humane and professional manner possible.

I have never been to Petra, although I would love to go some day and see the ruins.  I have heard it is beautiful and quite an experience. I do not downhill ski, I used to be an avid snowboarder and cross country skier when I was living in the States, although now it is very difficult to find areas where I can enjoy winter sports due to the climate here in Israel.  I love fishing, especially fly fishing and surf casting.  I have not gone in a while because I am quite busy with school but I hope to pick up the hobby again once I graduate.  My favorite place in Israel is the northern areas of the country, especially in the mountainous region along the Lebanese border.  It is a beautiful wooded area with lots of great hiking trails.  As far as the surrounding countries are concerned I have only been to Egypt and Lebanon, although I wouldn’t call what I was doing there a vacation.  The Sinai Peninsula is gorgeous and you can see all the stars at night due to the fact that there is absolutely no light pollution,  it truly is one the most incredible places I have ever been.  Lebanon, at least what I was able to see of it and actually take in without worrying about what was going on around me, is an incredibly beautiful country.  It is a shame that there is no peace between our two countries because I would love to visit and hike and climb in the south for a month or so.

I hope you have found my answers helpful and informative.  I look forward to hearing from you again.

I am so sorry to hear about the school bus with the children on it, being bombed. Thank God, it wasn’t worse than what it was. He WAS looking after the children. Sorry it took so long to get back to you. I was trying to complete a video that I was putting together. A nine minute video takes about 1-3 days to piece to together, put the music to it & put the subtitles on it. I will be starting another one soon. This one will probably take about a week or so getting all the items I need to together, than probably another week to piece it together. I work part-time, so I have to do it on my days off. I am glad that you responded back.

The Video – Against All Odds, Israel Survives – was put out by Questar. I’m sorry, but I don’t think that you’ll find this at your basic video store, but you can try. This is an interview with several people who fought in the Six day war, the Gaza war, the 1948 war after Israel was declared a nation. Some of the things that the men & women saw, that could only be explained by the hand of God. I know that you are not a believer, but these are documented cases. I thought that maybe you’ld be interested in watching them. If not, it won’t offend me.

I so would love to come to Israel. That has been my dream for a long time. But being that I only work part-time, coming up with the money to go, would take a long time. I fear that the way my country is going, that may never happen. I believe with all my heart, that Israel is the safest place to be right now. Yes, you have bombs coming down all around you, but Israel, is the apple of God’s eye, He promised that He would be with you & show your enemies that He is God. My country’s government (BHO) is showing that it stands with the wrong people & turning its back on Israel. The curse of Abraham will be poured down upon us, except of course, the individuals who stand by Israel, they will continue to receive Abrahams blessings.

You say you studied here in America. What was your favorite place? Would you like to come back to stay or visit & what brought you Israel or back to Israel? Thanks for your replys. This is very exciting to me.

Deborah,

I am sorry it took me so long to get back to you.  I have been in active reserves for the past few weeks and have not had internet access.  It’s good to hear from you again, I will try and find the film and watch it, it sounds interesting.

In answer to your question,  I studied at Umass-Amherst for two years.  I love Boston and try to visit at least once a year.  My family currently lives in the States so it makes it quite easy for me to find an excuse to visit.  As far as what brought me to Israel, it is where I feel most at home and I don’t think I will move away from Israel to the US.

I would like to bring to your attention that Pres. Obama signed the largest foreign aid package to Israel in history totaling $3 billion dollars, so I would not be so quick to judge his stance on Israel.  He has been very vocal on certain issues such as the settlements, but this is not a change in US Foreign Policy as far as I understand it.  Pres. Obama has not really changed the US Foreign Policy towards Israel that has existed for the last couple of decades as far as I see it, the only difference is that he has been vocal about some of the more touchy issues.

Again, I hope you have found this email informative and helpful.

Jonah

So sorry that it’s been awhile getting back to you. I went on vacation to see my daughter & then I was busy putting a video together. It is very time consuming. Sometimes takes days or weeks to complete.

I know that you don’t believe in God or maybe even the prophets of old. And you don’t have to watch this video that I made. It concerns Israel. The time that your people came back into the land & the land prospered just as Ezekial said it would.

I don’t understand the words of the song that I put with it, but it is so beautiful & fit with what I put together. Of course the words may not in actuality, but not knowing your language, I hope that I have not offended anyone with it.

Please, if you would like to, check it out. let me know if the words fit or not & if possible, your thoughts concerning it.

Shalom my friend.

Deborah,

Great to hear from you again.

I watched your film and I must you say you obviously have a talent for editing.  The song you chose is fine.  It is not to my liking because of all the messianic and religious overtones but it is well done.

I hope to hear from you again.

Jonah

Thank you for getting back with me. I honestly did not know the song was of Messianic nature. It was on a video called Beautiful Israel & sounded beautiful.

I found the video I was telling you about – Against All Odds, Israel Survives. You can watch them on you tube, if you can get you tube. I’m sending you a link to part 1. If you want to watch more (and able to), then you watch the rest for free without having to buy the set.

It looks like may is going to be an exciting month for everyone everywhere. Here in the US we hear still about the march on Israel on the 15th. Then we have a group of religious people saying the rapture of God’s people will happen on the 21st (date setting for this event is wrong). Now we have the death of Osama Bin Laden, that may cause trouble all over the world.

I am glad that you are still answering back. I know you don’t have to & I am honored that you still do. Thank you for taking time out of your busy schedule & life to answer & talk to me. I know we may not agree on certain things, but then do we ever agree with friends & people we know within our immediate circle? Peace my friend & blessings to you.

Deborah,

Thank you for sending me the link to the video.  I will take a look at it in the near future, I am just a little swamped with school work.  I am very interested to see what happens now that the US has killed Bin Laden.  Although, I must say, I don’t think that it will change US Foreign Policy in the least bit.

As far as the dates people give for different world changing events, I don’t pay much heed to them.  I think things will happen when they do and to announce the date in which you are going to start some sort of armed uprising seems kind of dumb.  If you’re enemy knows the date and time they can very easily stop it.  But thats just my thinking.

It was great to hear from you.

Jonah

Thanks for answering back. I know that you’re a busy person & I feel honored that you take the time to respond back.

I do hope that you get to look at the video. There are very interesting facts in there concerning Israel during the Israeli’s return to Israel, the 6 day war, Gilead, the Yom Kippor battle, among many other things. It even shows Benjamin Netanyahu’s brother Yoni in it as well. At least watch it for the history part of if nothing else.

I never asked. Are you married? Engaged? Have a girlfriend? What made you decide to do this, writing & answering other people’s questions? Being a pen-pal.

With school & other duties, why do you take the time to answer our questions? Just curious. Thanks & shalom.

Deborah,

Great to hear from you again.

As soon as I have a break from my school work and other responsibilities I will take a look at the video you sent me.  I am actually looking forward to it.

I am happily single and enjoy being so.

I decided to join Friend-a-Soldier because I believe that it is an important initiative.  There are many pro-Israel groups that try and tell the story of Israel and the IDF, as well as many organizations that have IDF veterans that tell their stories, but there wasn’t an organization that allowed for the everyday person to ask a question and get an honest and unbiased response.  I feel that many of the other organizations that do things similar to us have an agenda and try to push their agenda as much as possible, as where we do not.  I continue to take the time to work with FaS because I believe in the organization and I made a commitment that I intend to honor as best I can.

Jonah

Sorry about being so late answering you back, Crazy work schedule, plus trying to finish up part 1 of my new video that I am producing (or rather splicing together). Knowing that you are not a believer, I won’t push you to watch it. Still working on the music background to it, so it’s still in the works, but it is about ALL the prophecies that Yeshua fullfilled.

I hope this finds you doing great. I see that the May 15th intifada wasn’t as bad as they were making it out that it was going to be. But still, everything is so volatile over there. Please be careful & keep alert.

Other than working, doing my video, catching up on some reading (or wanting to anyway), there is nothing much more going on in my life. I live it pretty simple.

Is there anything about me that you would like to ask or know? I like the new picture. You are more of an adrenaline junkie than I am. I wish that I could be more adventurous, but hey, sail boating, riding the waves on wave jumper, fishing, hiking & camping out is just about all this old lady can handle – LOL.

Take care my friend. Shalom.

Deborah,

I, too, must apologize for the delay in responding to you.  I have been swamped as well.  I am actually interested in seeing the film when you are done, if you could send me a link that would be great.  I was actually wondering how you found out about our website.  I am glad that you like the new picture, it actually is an older picture of me.

Keep in touch.

Jonah

Glad to hear from you & that all is well. I believe I heard about this from facebook. There are little advertisements & since I stand for Israel, I saw the advertisement about “Friend a Soldier”. I thought it would be neat to have a friend in Israel & one who puts his life on the line for his country & his people.

The link to the video is:http://youtu.be/ffPxyRj1tFc I am working on another one. Concerning the prophecies of Christ in the Old Testament. It has been completed, but I have a friend working on the background music to it. So it’s not totally completed yet. This will be done in actually three parts. To prove the prophecies concerning Him actually also come in three parts.

He first came as the suffering Messiah as in Isaiah 53. He will come again (unseen) as the Bridegroom Messiah & the last time He will come as the King Messiah. This is the prophecy most were looking for at the time of his first coming. To relieve the Jews from the dictatorship of Rome.

Therefore, the three part video, will be of His birth prophecy (Isaiah 7:14), His death (Isaiah 53) & His reign as King (Ezekiel 37:21-25 & Jeremiah 23:5,6). Those are just a few of over 300 prophecies that Jesus/Yeshua fulfilled. The chances of one man fulfilling only 8 of those prophecies are a trillion to one. I do hope that you watch them. I hope that I can get them done soon. Between working & peicing these together is very time consuming. For approx. 8-9 minutes of video takes me approx 3-4 hours per minute. And i have to fit that in between work & time off. Blessings to you my friend, Jonah. Please take care. Keep your eyes open & may God keep you in the palm of His hands & under the shadow of His wings.

Shalom.

Deborah,

Thanks for sending me the link.  I can see you put a lot of time and effort into collecting all the clips and editing them together.  I hope you find the time to finish all your projects.

Jonah

Thank you!

We would like to thank our generous donors for their support of the project over the past years.
