Joan, USA

Hi,

I am a retired American nurse. I have been to visit Israel 4 times in the last 12 years. I LOVE Israel and her people. I have only good things to say about the IDF and I thank G-d for all Israeli soldiers who do what they must do to protect their people and land. May G-d bless and protect every one of you!

What is it like to be a woman in the IDF?

Are women allowed to be on the “front lines” so to speak? In the USA they are not allowed.

Joan

Dear Joan,

Being a woman in the IDF is generally no different then being a man. I served with guys who did the exact same job I did. I don’t think we get treated any other way.

Women are allowed to be in the front lines, although usually not in the toughest ones. We have different degrees of front lines, and although women do guard the borders and such, they are usually put in the more quiet ones.

Have a great day,

Hamutal
