I´m a writer from Berlijn.

What might you think about the real perspectives of democracy and stabile peace in Middle- East region?

In which country of the world/ which city would you like to live?

Dear Ron,

Thank you very much for your letter. I’ve been writing year-end exams, still am, so regrets for the delay (would have preferred to tour berlin instead, I hear it’s a very nice city).

The question of democracy in the countries of the Middle East, which were engulfed by the so-called Arab Spring, is an interesting one. I think the prospects for democracy are far flanged, which means it will probably take many more years to come, if at all. I’ll give one issue for example. When you see that women in the Arab world have gained not full equality but such approaching the style current in democracies which you know, then you may assume that those countries are perhaps closer to democracy. There are more issues of course other than women’s rights but this is a telling one.

As to your second question, I’ve seen and lived in several countries and cities around the world, Israel is the best. For me. But I think not just for me, it’s an excellent place to be, and Tel Aviv is a very vibrant, interesting city with the best white beaches ever. I love them.

Yours truly,

Gal
