Hi Cam,

Thank you for writing to me, I am happy to answer all your questions.

To live in Israel today, in my opinion, is great, I truly enjoy living here, the diversity, the challenges, the wide range of landscapes, it can never be boring. I live in Tel Aviv so it doesn’t represent life in Israel as a whole; every city in Israel is completely different. Israel is a real adventure. I recommend to anyone that hasn’t been to visit and to make sure they see all the parts, not just Tel Aviv. Have you been?

Regarding you second question, women and men are equal in Israel, so I would have to say I think women play a pretty similar role to men. Women serve in the IDF just as men have to and there are also female combat units. Peace definitely matters, its matters to all people alike. Women and men, Israelis and Palestinians, everyone wants peace and it matters to everyone. The issue is not a lack of importance or urgency for peace; the conflict is in the details, the miscommunication, misrepresentation, and misunderstanding of one another, perpetuated further by a multitude of divergent views. The truth is, peace means something to everybody else, especially the conditions for peace. What some are willing to compromise, others are not, and hence a vicious cycle ensues. How do you think we can make peace matter then?

My favourite music is rock, especially Jimmy Hendrix, The Beatles, The Kinks and Graham Nash. Why? I just love music, guitars and the old stuff. What about you?

I look forward to hearing from you soon!

Best regards,

Ruth
