Friend-a-Soldier (FaS) is a grass roots movement of Israel Defense Forces veterans from across the nation who want to share with the world their experiences taking part in the Middle East conflict and living in Israel.  It is their belief that forging personal connections is the only way to gain a better understanding of the complex reality of the conflict and, ultimately, the only way to achieve a lasting peace.

The project began in 2010 when a group of IDF combat veterans realized that world perceptions of Israel and her citizen-soldiers were extremely negative and filled with misconceptions. They decided that what was needed was a opportunity for people the world over to be exposed to the personalities and experiences which make up the IDF and the State of Israel and so, Friend-a-Soldier was born.

It is the purpose of the FaS website to facilitate those connections and foster dialogue between our volunteer IDF veterans and the rest of the world. The first of its kind, www.friendasoldier.com is a place where you can ask IDF soldiers of multiple backgrounds, political orientations, ethnicities and religions tough questions about the conflict, and receive a truthful and transparent answer in return.

So please explore our site, connect with our soldiers, and open up your mind to the complexities that comprise our daily life in Israel.

Thank you!

We would like to thank our generous donors for their support of the project over the past years.
